Patterns & Cases
This part tests the Fieldbook’s principles against real task environments. Cases are organized by the engineering questions they illuminate, not by vendor, and do not redefine concepts or repeat the failure-mode catalogs owned by core chapters.
Chapters
Section titled “Chapters”- Coding and Software Engineering Agents - examines repository context, planning, tool use, verification, review, and change safety.
- Research and Knowledge Work Agents - examines source discovery, evidence synthesis, provenance, uncertainty, and citation quality.
- Customer Support and Service Agents - examines policy grounding, identity, escalation, conversation continuity, and bounded action authority.
- Data and Analysis Agents - examines data access, query and code execution, reproducibility, validation, and explanation of results.
- Business Process and Operations Agents - examines long-running work, external side effects, approvals, exception handling, and recovery.
- Cross-Domain Pattern Synthesis - promotes patterns only when evidence from multiple domains shows a reusable problem, context, solution, trade-off, and failure boundary.
